The Founder

From Munich's film sets to building cinematic software

Muhlis Karaca is a filmmaker, author, and software developer based in Munich. With over 17 years in German television – from directing to 1st AD on productions like Aktenzeichen XY (ZDF) and Hubert ohne Staller (ARD) – he brings a deep understanding of visual storytelling to everything he builds.

Beyond the set, he writes novels that move between worlds: Lost Heimatland, a coming-of-age story between Bavaria and Istanbul, is currently with publishers. Madame Hayati, a tragicomic road story, is in progress.

In late 2025 he began exploring generative AI through a cinematic lens – producing micro dramas and AI short films that translate traditional film grammar into new formats. In early 2026 he founded Likafilm's software division, building tools at the intersection of filmmaking, writing, and AI.
